COLLEGIATE STEP No.1 - Modern Ballroom Dancing 1930
IN THIS COLLEGIATE STEP, KNEES ARE BENT SHARPLY AND TURNED OUT WITH MORE SPIRIT THAN GRACE.
Man's Part
Beginning with the left foot lifted out to side, jump on left foot In back of right foot, raising right foot up in front, right knee bent and turned out as in Figure (count 1).
Step in place on right foot (count 2).
Stamp left foot in place beside right foot, both knees bent (count 3).
Swing left foot out to left side (count 4).
Hop on right foot, left foot remaining out to left side (count 5).
As if slapping the floor, slap with ball of left foot (count 6).
Hop on right foot, left foot lifted out to side.(count 7).
Again slap with ball of left foot in place (count 8)
The entire figure may be done on the other side.
Woman's Part
Beginning With right foot lifted out to side Jump on right foot in back of left foot raising left foot up in front, left knee bent and turned out as in Figure 2 (count 1).
Step in place on left foot (count 2),
Stamp right foot in place beside left foot, both knees bent (count 3).
Swing right foot out: to right side (count 4).
Hop on left foot, right foot remaining out to right side (count 5).
As if slapping the floor, slap with ball of right foot (count 6).
Hop on left foot, right foot lifted out to side (count7).
Again slap with ball of right foot in place (count 8)
