Nautical History in Person

Vintage Music DJ

Finally, a D. J. who "gets it".

If you hire a disc jockey out of the yellow pages, you can have a fine selection of disco, rock, salsa and the like, but if what you need is a touch of history, you are usually out of luck.

Now, with a library of over 14,000 tunes--all available with the click of a mouse, Walter Nelson can bring that perfect historical ambiance to your event for far less than the cost of a live band (note: if you DO want a live band, Walter can help you find that too).

Walter specializes in the music of 1900 to 1945, and has thousands of vintage recordings from that era. In addition, he has hundreds of recordings of recreated music from the eras before sound recording.

Here are the packages he currently offers:
  • The Ragtime Era: 1900-1920 (all original recordings)
  • The Jazz Age: 1920-1935 (all original recordings)
  • The Swing Era: 1935-1945 (all original recordings)
  • Parisian Cabaret: 1930-1950 (all original recordings)
  • Vintage American Folk: 1920-1945 (all original recordings)
  • Vintage American Blues: 1920-1945 (all original recordings)
  • The Victorian Ballroom 1840-1900 (modern recordings of period music)
  • The Baroque & Regency Ballroom: 1700-1820 (modern recordings of period music)
  • The Renaissance Revel: 1500-1650 (modern recordings of period music)
  • The Medieval Revel: 1200-1500 (modern recordings of period music)
Walter is also a dancer himself, so he understands the needs of dancers for a clear, steady tempo, and when he is playing for dancers, he selects his tunes to meet their needs.

Walter DJ

This music can be presented in a variety of ways

  • Traditional D. J. with Walter playing tunes on demand and taking requests
  • Ambient music, with wireless speakers, concealed around your event, playing music to set the mood
  • Ambient music, with an iPod concealed inside a 1930s radio, giving the impression that your guests are hearing a live radio broadcast from the '30s or '40s.
