Military Attire
While the attire of male civilians was generally very drab and in the case of evening wear, a rather rigidly defined uniform of black and white, the attire of military men was the absolute opposite: colorful, spectacular and infinitely varied.
A proper analysis of 19th and early 20th Century military uniform would take far more than a single web page, but I will present here a brief sampler - a few tantalizing glimpses of what you may do if you wish to cast off the drab colors of the civilian gentleman and embrace the color, splendor, discomfort and expense of 19th Century military uniform.
