New Format for LAHA Home Page
For the last ten years or so, the home page at lahacal.org has been about presenting the services and events organized by LAHA. With LAHA on the glidepath to disbandment, the time has come to redefine the website.
It now functions as a portal, linking to the new "Event Keeper" calendar system via a set of RSS feeds, while still linking to the other websites I have established in my little network.
It also presents each RSS feed, for those who "get" RSS, if you want to monitor the feed for a particular sort of event.
I hope this new format will more directly meet the needs of the local community.
The one thing I didn't want to do was shut the site down. It is an awesome piece of Internet real estate, with over a thousand sites linking to it, it rates high in many search engines and it gets thousands of visits a month from all over the world. It takes time to build a position like that, and it is a thing not lightly thrown away.
LAHA will go away this year, but the website will go on.
