Jazz Age Dance and Holiday Gathering in Winnetka

11/19/2017 6:30 pm
11/19/2017 9:30 pm

ImageAs the holidays descend, come join us for a convivial, informal gathering and Jazz Age dance party.

This is one of Walter Nelson's "Dancing in the Valley" Jazz Age dance programs, and will feature basic instruction in the dances of the era (flexible, depending on who shows up) as well as some pointers on festive sorts of Charleston and Collegiate steps.

Dances include the Jazz Age versions of the Foxtrot, Waltz (including French Musette style), Tango, Charleston and Swing (though no Swing instruction) and a bit of Rumba and maybe a Conga line.

As always, the dancing will be interspersed with dance-related film clips from the era.

We encourage you to bring finger foods, wine and other beverages to share. No heating facilities available on site.

Festive or vintage style attire is encouraged but not required.

There will be no gathering in December. We're all going to be way too busy.

Recorded music. Requests are encouraged.

Cost: $10 by cash or check at the door.
