Plans are being made to have our next vintage dance week take place in a true vintage location: the famous and fabulous Queen Mary in Long Beach Harbor. Rooms and classes will be on the Queen Mary, as well as the final night dinner/dance extravaganza. Two other cool vintage ballrooms in the Long Beach area are also in the works, for our fabulous, evening events. Don't miss this, our 4th dance week---each one has been one-of-a-kind, but this one will top them all!

Richard Powers and Joan Walton, our world class historic dance experts, are already 'on board' (so to speak) for this week. And as an added bonus, our event will go back-to-back with a fabulous historic swing dance weekend hosted by Joel Plys of 2PlySwing at the terrific Avalon Casino Ballroom on Catalina Island, June 4-7. That's two, yes, TWO vintage dance events together! Get right off the ferry from Catalina and check in to the Queen Mary. More details as available.

The San Diego Vintage Dancers proudly presented --Viennese Nights: A Ball-- on the grand dance floor of the Balboa Park Club in San Diego, Jan. 26 2008. We experienced the enchantment of a traditional 19th Century Ball, as we celebrated the music and dances of the Strauss family and ther contempories. The Grand Pacific Waltz Orchestra will provided LIVE music for Waltzes, Polkas, Schottisches and more! The evening included light refreshments. Mid-late 19th Century ball wear was in great abundance as always. We were honored to welcome the incomparable Richard Powers, Stanford University dance historian, as Master of Ceremonies for the evenings. A pre-ball dance workshop, was also taught by Mr. Powers at the Balboa Park Club, on the day of the Ball.

Mark your calendars NOW for our next fabulous Victorian Ball on January 31, 2009. Details in the fall of 2008.

The incomparable Richard Powers came to San Diego for a stunning vintage dance workshop featuring 6 stap tango, gender switching schottische and other amazing Ragtime era dances. Heliotrope Ragtime Orchestra played for an amazing Ragtime Tea dance.

The San Diego Vintage Dancers presented --Viennese Nights-- a grand ball Victorian reminescent of glorious European balls of the 19th Century. Live music was provided by The Grand Pacific Waltz Orchestra, with the charming Mr. Marc Casslar of Connecticut as the evening's Dance Master.

October 6-8, featuring classes in 19th and 20th Century social ballroom dances. Wonderful afternoon Tea Dance with the Heliotrope Ragtime Orchestra at the terrific Art Deco Silvergate Masonic Hall on Sunday afternoon.
