In honor of Valentine's Day: a program about romance.

Sunday, February 11, 2018, 12-4 p.m.

Hear romantic, funny, and heartbreaking stories about love. The event will feature readings of letters from the Workman and Temple families, lessons in decorum on the dance floor, decoding the meaning of flowers, and more. Admission is free. Bring a picnic to enjoy in the museum’s gardens.

It will include a couple of half-hour presentations on the history of social dancing from 1830 to 1930 by Walter Nelson and Sheila Murphy-Nelson.

A lovely Tea will be served in the Fabulous Beaux arts Grand Ballroom of 56 East Fremont Place ( once home to Mary Pickford) in the exclusive gated community of Fremont Place. Mark Wanamaker will speak about Hollywood stars, scandals, and real estate all in the context of the exploding movie industry of the early 1920's.

from The English Roses (Mary Ann Sereth, violin; Walter Sereth, guitar; Keiko Cadby, violin). Dress festively if you like!

Social dancing in the English Country Dance style as danced from the Renaissance to the Regency.

Beginners welcome, no partner necessary, always live music.
