Latest: We shall be reviewing some of the dances of the upcoming Jane Austen Evening.

You are most welcome to join us at Third Sunday English Regency Dancing celebrating the world of Jane Austen, and the English Regency Period.

Doors open at 1pm. Dancing from One Thirty to Five Thirty in the afternoon.
There will be light refreshments, conversation, and Regency Dancing.

We shall be learning longways set dances, waltzes, a finishing dance, and one of Jane Austen’s favorite type of dance, the Cotillion.

The Museums Free-for-All is back: This year the special day for free admission to dozens of Southern California institutions is set for Jan. 28.

The goal is to get the public into museums and galleries so people can see the kinds of fine offerings on display all year round. The event is organized by a group called SoCal Museums, composed of representatives from museums across the Los Angeles region.

Hear romantic, funny, and heartbreaking stories about love. The event will feature readings of letters from the Workman and Temple families, lessons in decorum on the dance floor, decoding the meaning of flowers, and more. Admission is free. Bring a picnic to enjoy in the museum’s gardens.

It will include a couple of half-hour presentations on the history of social dancing from 1830 to 1930 by Walter Nelson and Sheila Murphy-Nelson.
