Colonial Dance featuring featuring the social dances that were popular in this country from 1730 to 1799. Our program will consist primarily of longways "country" dances as well as a few cotillions (the predecessor of quadrilles). With dances of various skill levels throughout the evening, there is sure to be something for beginners and experienced dancers alike.

Beginner-friendly / Bringing a partner is not required / Historical attire is optional

On the first Saturday of January, the Montebello Historical Society invites you to their Commemoration of the Battle of Rio San Gabriel which took place in early January 1847 (prior to the Capitulation at Campo de Cahuenga); there will be a reenactment of this local battle fought in California during the Mexican American War, and also live fandango music and dancing which was such an important part of Early California life.

AGE LIMIT: Attendees must be at least 13 years of age to attend the Jane Austen Evening and dance practices. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This is an adult event and children are expected to behave as adults.
